Find Erath Traffic Court Records

Start with the court named on the ticket. That single line tells you which office holds the Erath County traffic court file you need. Justice of the Peace precincts handle tickets written by county officers, while the municipal courts in Stephenville and Dublin keep their own cases. Each court keeps its own docket, so a citation number or name search only works once you know where the case lives. The file itself can show the charge, your plea, hearing settings, orders, payments, and the outcome. If nothing turns up online, call the clerk or visit the counter. And whatever you do, check the response date printed on the ticket first, since paying and contesting follow separate paths.

Traffic Case Records in Erath County

County citations usually land in the Justice Court precinct where the offense happened. Erath County splits that work up. JP Precincts 1, 3, and 4 sit in Stephenville. JP Precinct 2 meets at the Dublin Annex. Local rules cover fine-only criminal traffic and other Class C matters. Three settings appear in those rules: Pre-Trial Docket, Trial Before Court, and Jury Trial.

Not every ticket belongs to a JP, though. A Stephenville police or city-code Class C citation goes to Stephenville Municipal Court. Dublin Municipal Court runs its own city portal. Neither one is a universal Erath County traffic docket. Read the court name on the ticket. Your home precinct has nothing to do with where a county traffic case was filed.

Correct Erath JP Comes First

The court printed on the ticket is your fastest routing fact. JP Precincts 1, 3, and 4 share an address. It is 298 S Graham in Stephenville, with one phone line, 254-965-1489. JP Precinct 2 sits at 219 S Grafton in Dublin, reachable at 254-445-2766. For payments, the county's Online Services hub keeps separate links. Each one is labeled for one of the two JP groups. Use the hub instead of guessing at a payment address.

Quick routing rule: Use the Erath court printed on the Erath citation, not the Erath court nearest home. Traffic venue can follow the place where the offense occurred.

No online entry? Call the court or go to the counter. A brand-new citation may not be typed in yet, and a statewide citation result never shows the full municipal or Justice Court register.

Erath County Traffic Ticket Lookups

Search with the citation number and date of birth. Do that when a city portal offers the option. The Stephenville and Dublin portals allow more. You can search by name, vehicle information, business name, and other identifying fields. Pick the least sensitive method that works. Never save private identifiers on a shared device. The statewide Texas citation and notice search covers name, cause number, court or county, and status. Handy as it is, it does not replace the issuing Erath court's own case record.

  1. Read the issuing Erath court and response date from the Erath citation.
  2. Use the matching JP payment link or the correct Erath County's Stephenville or Erath County's Dublin citation portal.
  3. Search by citation number and date of birth when available, then note the cause and setting.
  4. If the Erath case is absent, call the Erath court or take the Erath citation to its public counter.
  5. Ask the Erath court to confirm the live setting before relying on a calendar screen.

Court staff can walk you through filing and payment steps. They cannot give legal advice. If you want a trial, deferred disposition, or a driving-safety course, ask that court which form and deadline apply.

Erath County's Stephenville Citation Search Fields

The Stephenville Municipal Court portal offers several public search modes. The city asks you to wait three business days before your ticket appears there. After that, you can act on weekdays. The response date is printed below the signature. Minors may not qualify for online handling, and portal choices never extend that printed deadline.

The court also offers an SSN search mode. Skip it when a citation number or name route works. There is no reason to expose more data. The portal's Search, Sign In/Register, and mode tiles are access controls only. They do not guarantee every response option exists for every case.

Traffic Court Dates in Erath County

The ticket itself carries your response or appearance date. A later court setting shows up in the issuing Erath court's register or a mailed notice. Treat the citation number as the local case key, a label such as CAUSE OR CITATION NUMBER, rather than a fixed countywide format. Confirm any reset or continuance with the court directly.

Issuing courtJP precinct, Erath County's Stephenville Municipal Court, or Erath County's Dublin Municipal Court
Response dateThe deadline printed on the Erath citation for the initial response
SettingPretrial, Trial Before Court, jury trial, or another court-set event
StatusPending event, plea, disposition, order, or payment entry shown by the Erath court

Only the official record or order controls. An online calendar is a helpful notice tool, but it proves neither that a hearing happened nor that a case was resolved. For broader setting channels, see the county court schedule.

Erath County's Dublin Traffic Uses Two Channels

A ticket written around Dublin can land in two different offices. Dublin Municipal Court sits at 213 E Blackjack. Its portal contact lists 254-445-3348. JP Precinct 2 works out of the Dublin Annex on S Grafton. The word "Dublin" on a location does not tell you which file holds the citation.

The Dublin Municipal Court search accepts several modes. These cover citation number plus DOB, name plus DOB, vehicle plate and state, business name, and other modes. Its portal home lists a $3 credit-card fee. That charge applies to portal payments only, not to court copies. The Dublin court publishes no full fee schedule or detailed deferred-disposition and continuance rules. So do not assume Stephenville's terms carry over.

Paying a Ticket vs Fighting It

Paying a traffic ticket is a court act, not just a bill. Under the Erath court's process, payment generally works as a guilty or no-contest plea. Contesting works differently. You enter a not-guilty plea and the court sets a trial for later. Never assume the online balance is the only path. Read the Erath court instructions and answer by the deadline on the ticket. Ask the Erath court about a deferred option. Ask too about a driving-safety request. Both may be open to you.

Do not miss the response date: Erath County's Stephenville warns that failure to appear may lead to a warrant, added charges, and a request that DPS deny license renewal. Contact the issuing Erath court at once if a deadline has passed.

A payment screen does not cancel a court appearance unless the Erath court's own process says so. Save the Erath court receipt, then check that the Erath case entry reflects the transaction.

Local Erath Disposition Options

Erath County's JP driving-safety form shows a $146 court payment for the stated request. Permission comes first. You cannot just sign up for a course. Eligibility calls for a valid Texas license. It rules out a commercial license. Current insurance is required, along with no course in the prior twelve months. Speed must be less than 25 mph over and below 95 mph, and a certified DPS Type 3A record is part of the rule. Completion papers and that certified record are due. The deadline is the end of the stated 90-day period.

Stephenville publishes different city terms. Its deferred disposition may run up to 180 days under stated limits. A continuance motion there must be in writing. It is due at least 72 hours before the session. The motion must carry the Erath citation or cause number and setting facts, and it must then be checked for a granted or denied result. Those municipal rules do not govern Erath County's Dublin or the county JP courts.

Get approval before anything else. Eligibility turns on the issuing Erath court, the charge, the deadline, and your current facts. An online form alone is not the answer.

Two Records: Court File and Driver File

A traffic court file and a DPS driver record are two different things. Each lives in a separate office. The issuing JP or municipal court keeps the Erath citation case. That file holds the alleged violation, the plea, the settings, court orders, the disposition, and payment events. The Texas Department of Public Safety keeps the driving history and licensing file. One office cannot certify the other's record.

The JP course process shows the split plainly. The Erath court rules on eligibility and keeps the Erath case, while DPS supplies the required certified Type 3A record. For a certified Erath County traffic docket, DPS is not the source.

Erath County's Stephenville Resets Need Follow-Up

Filing a continuance motion does not move the setting by itself. Erath County's Stephenville puts the follow-up on the filer. Verify whether the judge granted or denied the request. This step matters. A docket can still carry the original date. That holds until the judge acts and the clerk records a new one.

Put the cause or citation number in the motion. It must be in writing, name the defendant and setting date, and state the facts. The city allows one continuance without a reason under its published process. The advance written deadline still applies. Erath County's Dublin publishes no Dublin-specific continuance rules.

Erath Traffic Record Copy Fees

Ask the issuing Erath court for the current price. That covers a traffic docket, citation, order, or certified copy. The county posts no countywide traffic-copy schedule. Two figures float around. Neither is a records fee. The $3 shown by Erath County's Dublin is a card fee for its portal. The $146 JP amount belongs to a specific driving-safety course request.

JP 1/3/4 driving-safety request payment$146Listed on the official course form
DPS Type 3A record$12Separate DPS record required by JP eligibility material

Describe the exact item and say whether you need certification. That lets the Erath court separate a copy charge from a plea, course, card, or case payment.

When Erath Traffic Is Missing

A blank search has common causes. The citation may sit in the wrong court. It may be too new to post. It may carry a typo. The search mode may also fail to match the portal. Check the issuing Erath court printed on the paper ticket. Try the Erath citation number with the required date of birth. Then call the Erath court instead of hopping at random between JP and city sites.

Give the clerk enough detail. That helps the clerk identify the Erath case in person or by mail. Do not post a DOB, license number, SSN, or plate in a public message. Ask by name for the traffic docket, citation, order, or certified copy. For the live date and record status, the Erath court's answer is the source.
